WestJet and Japan Airlines Announce Code-Sharing Deal
Thursday, 15 December 2011
WestJet Airlines has announced that they have signed a code-sharing deal with Japan Airlines, which will take effect on Thursday. The new deal will allow the two airlines to sell seats on each others' flights, which will allow passengers the flexibility of booking their entire trip in one go. This means that passengers from Japan will be able to fly to Vancouver and then link to any destination that WestJet flies.

This type of code-sharing arrangement has allowed WestJet to expand its network since its Boeing 737 aircraft cannot make the flight overseas. A code-sharing arrangement allows them to open themselves up to Europe and Asia, which allows them to welcome passengers from all over the world. WestJet also has code-sharing arrangements with American Airlines, KLM, and Cathay Pacific.
