Airfarewatchdog has released their picks for the World’s Most Thrilling Airports, their choices based on approaches, landings, and takeoffs. President of Airfarewatchdog, George Hobica, says that those who fly frequently around the world may have favorites that aren't on this list, but there is no doubt that there are some great airports, such as flying into old Hong Kong, where passengers could see what people were watching on TV as they flew past their apartment buildings. The top ten choices for Airfarewatchdog include airports who have had to deal with runways covered by the ocean, landings over sunbathers, and sudden descents. The top ten include: Toncontín International Airport, Tegucigalpa, Honduras; Princess Juliana International Airport, Philipsburg, St. Maarten; Queenstown Airport, Queenstown, New Zealand; Gustaf III Airport, St. Jean, St. Barts; Sitka Rocky Gutierrez Airport, Sitka, Alaska; Courcheval Airport, Courcheval, France; Catalina Airport (Airport in the Sky), Avalon, California; LaGuardia Airport, New York, New York; Tenzing-Hillary Airport (Lukla Airport), Lukla, Nepal; and Barra Airport, Barra, Scotland. |
